The Caribbean is known for its beautiful beaches, sunrises, sunsets, vacations, and relaxation. It is also known for its four “S’s”: Sun, Sand, Surf, and Seafood. The world longs to come and be part of this paradise!
The opportunity that exists for Sports Ministry is very strong. Sports is a core aspect of culture in the Caribbean. From the fun and play on an open grassy field or open basketball court, to the stadium where Olympic hopefuls compete, sport is supreme. From an early age into adulthood and old age, most everyone is involved.
This gives us one of the greatest opportunities in the world to see the Caribbean transformed by Jesus Christ through the influence of Coaches and Athletes. The opportunity is rich and ripe to share the Good News of Jesus Christ to every coach and athlete, to provide every coach and athlete with a FCA Bible, to encourage and provide huddles for every coach and athlete, to build and develop them to become E3 Disciple makers in their churches and communities. We want to lead every coach and athlete into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and His church. This includes the integration of life and leadership in their local communities.
The best way we know to see the strongest long-term impact is through the US Great Lakes Region, assigned and aligned, to the Caribbean, to advance and fulfill the Pray, Give, Go needs. The Caribbean is grouped into 10 Island(s) with similar local characteristics. These 10 are assigned and aligned to one of the 10 multi-areas within the Great Lakes Region. This enables the Great Lakes region staff to ACT – become Aware of specific needs, Connect with specific sports ministry leaders in their assigned and aligned area, and become part of the Transforming work of Jesus with specific coaches and athletes. We are well on the way to fulfill the vision to see the Caribbean transformed by Jesus Christ.
